Eligibility & Submission Checklist

Before submitting, please ensure:

The initiative or project was launched within the eligible timeframe.
The organisation is registered and operating within the relevant region.
The entrant has ownership or rights to the initiative being submitted.
The submission complies with all award criteria and has not won in this category previously (if applicable).
All sections of the submission form are completed in full.

Note: Judges will assess entries based solely on the information provided. Supporting detail and evidence are strongly encouraged.

Award Categories

We recommend seven categories for the inaugural program, covering facilities, innovation, sustainability, community, workforce, the broader ecosystem and individual contribution.

Data Centre of the Year

The flagship award. Recognises the best data centre facility delivered or operational during the awards period. Open to new builds, major upgrades, or existing facilities demonstrating exceptional operational performance but also significance to the ‘national interest’.

Sustainability Excellence

Recognises outstanding achievement in energy efficiency, renewable energy procurement, water innovation, cooling technology advancement, or circular economy outcomes.

Innovation Award

Recognises a technology, process, design approach or solution that has advanced how data centres are designed, built or operated in Australia. Open to operators, suppliers, engineers, cooling technology companies and any participant in the data centre ecosystem. The innovation should demonstrate measurable impact, not just novelty.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Recognises a project or organisation that has demonstrated best practice in engaging with local communities, local government, utilities or other stakeholders.

Skills and Workforce Development

Recognises outstanding investment in skills development, training pathways, apprenticeship programs, diversity and inclusion initiatives, or career pathway development.

Ecosystem Partner of the Year

Recognises a supplier, consultant, construction firm, engineering company or other partner that has made an outstanding contribution to the Australian data centre sector.

Industry Achievement Award

It recognises an outstanding personal contribution to the Australian data centre sector. This award is deliberately broad in scope – it could recognise a career-spanning contribution, a new talent, a specific achievement in a given year, leadership in a particular area, or an exceptional contribution from outside the industry (such as a public servant, policymaker or academic) that has materially advanced the sector’s interests.

This award is peer-nominated only – individuals cannot nominate themselves.
